Young women usually come into contact with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in the first few years of sexual activity, and up to eighty per cent of women will have the HPV at some point in their lives. Given the stigma attached to this sexually transmitted virus, and the lack of available information, a diagnosis of HPV often causes fear and uncertainty.  It is clear that HPV is present in virtually all cases of cervical cancer.  So PapScreen Victoria has produced a booklet explaining the subject to women.  The booklet "Pap Tests and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)" explains HPV and outlines its link to cervical cancer.

The booklet is primarily designed to answer the concerns of women who have been diagnosed with HPV although it is also suitable for those who are interested in their general health. GPs have also found it useful in explaining cervical abnormalities to women.
