General Practice Accreditation
Overview
The RACGP Standards for general practices and the associated accreditation process were developed in the 1990s with the long term aim of engaging general practices in an ongoing process of quality improvement.
The RACGP Standards for General Practices (3rd Edition) details the current requirements for general practice accreditation and can be found at www.racgp.org.au/standards.
Divisions provide support to practices to become accredited and to maintain and improve their quality. GPV facilitates the access of divisions to resources for use in their work with practices. There are two medical accreditation companies in Australia:

General Practice Accreditation (GPA plus)
The GPV statistics package provides data on the number and percentage of accredited practices in each Victorian division.
Key objectives

To support divisions of general practice through information provision and networking opportunities.

To liaise with accrediting bodies on behalf of Victorian divisions of general practice.
