General Practitioner Information

GPs are able to work on divisional panels in a number of ways. Divisions have set up panels according to their local area needs. Many divisions hold RACF Directors of Nursing meetings, GP education meetings and an overarching GP advisory panel.

The Medicare Benefits Schedule has several item numbers for use with residents of aged care facilities. These item numbers cover consultations, after hours care, comprehensive medical assessments, care planning, case conferencing, and medication management review. GPV has produced a fact sheet and flow chart for Medicare items in residential aged care facilities [link to the flow chart the publisher MBS chart]

For further details of these item numbers refer to the Medicare Benefits Schedule Book or MBS online
