Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development
Overview
Victorian divisions provide a high level of GP quality assurance and continuing professional development (QA & CPD) activities. GPV will continue to support divisions as key providers of QA & CPD, in part through regular forums for staff who co-ordinate QA & CPD programs for divisions.
In addition, GPV recognises that some health problems in primary care have a low incidence at the divisional level but involve a high level of need for individuals seeking general practice care. The need for professional development in these special areas can be effectively and efficiently met using a state-wide approach. To this end, GPV are involved in the development and provision of CPD activities to meet the special needs of high-need, low prevalence patient groups including people living with blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections including hepatitis and HIV, people living with lymphoedema, and children and young people entering out-of-home care in Victoria. GPV are also working collaboratively with other professional organisations involved in CPD activities (e.g. The Cancer Council Victoria General Practice Program) to disseminate GP training and resources to divisions.
Key Objectives
- Support divisions as key providers of QA & CPD
- Develop and provide high-quality educational activities and resources for use within the division network for high-need, low prevalence patient groups
- Strengthen our working relationships with the RACGP, ACRRM and other professional organisations involved in CPD activities for general practice.
