Objectives
- To update participants on DHS initiatives affecting outpatients funding and models of service delivery
- To share lessons for effective communication between GPs and outpatient departments
- To provide people working in GPL services with a networking opportunity for mutual learning and strengthening of the GPLO role
Reflections on General Practice Liaison
Susan Jury is the GPLO at Rural Children�s Hospital. She has just returned from a travel scholarship to explore partnership/integration models abroad. She presented her reflections on general practice liaison programs she encountered.
Notifications to GP on admission and discharge
Austin Health�s experience of the AutoFax. Dr Wendy Fisher, GPL from Austin Health presentation completed the building blocks of discharge discussion from the last workshop.

Improving the quality of GP referrals (cont)
Dr Mary Anne McLean,GPL, Mercy Hospital for Women presented the implementation of the Maternity Services Review at Mercy Hospital for Women.
Discharge processes and communication
In small groups GPLOs discussed the following questions.
How can specialists (and their team) be encouraged to discharge patients from outpatients? What are the criteria?

Reporting
Jane Measday, GPL co-ordinator presented statewide measures on what is achievable for this reporting period. Jane will also take any questions on the reporting process.
Writing Smart Objectives
Helen Threlfall, GPV team leader presented a useful framework for objectives to assist in the writing of the next annual plan.
