Screening Criteria
Following the review of the LAOS program in 2005 the following criteria have been trialled in the LAOS program in Victoria:
- unexpected patient death
- unplanned return to theatre within seven days
- unplanned readmission within 28 days of discharge
- unexpected transfer to another health service
- patient length of stay greater than 35 days
- any record that has been recommended by a doctor or other health professional for review.
Hospitals may also use additional screening criteria that are suitable for the range of services they provide. The usefulness of these criteria will be reviewed in the last six months of 2008.
