STATISTICS
The Department of Health and Ageing provide regular statistics to GPDV.
Postcode statistics are formatted by GPDV and forwarded to divisions on a regular basis. The postcode statistics have assisted divisions in evaluating the effectiveness of their education programs.

DH&AC also send national aggregate statistics to GPDV. These statistics give a list of the uptake of the items by division nationally.

GPDV prepares statistics to update divisions on their progress and to look at the uptake of the items in various categories, by division in Victoria.

EPC MBS Items for the period from 1 September 2000 to 31 August 2001 are:

1.   August EPC uptake statistics
     
2.   Uptake of items by national divisions (November 2000 to October 2001)

4.   Average monthly uptake of items by Victorian divisions
     
5.   Uptake of ATSI items by division
     
6.   Percentage of over 75s who have had a health assessment

HIC EPC Statistics
EPC statistics are available from the HIC website at http://www.hic.gov.au/statistics/dyn_dgp/forms/dgp_tab.shtml

This site allows access to EPC statistical information aggregated to the Division of General Practice of choice such as service levels, benefits paid and the number of GPs (the latter is only available when the quarter time period is selected).

After selecting the division, program type (MBS) and the time period, select Professional Attendances and scroll down the page to A14 Health Assessments and A15 Multidisciplinary Care Plans and Case Conferences for statistics at the group level. Clicking on the hyperlinks enables statistical information to be obtained at the item level.

It is important to read the caveats at the end of the reports. The HIC statistics are based on slightly different parameters to the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DHA) statistics.

The Internet-based information products have been developed to meet information needs of Divisions of General Practice in a number of key areas such as design, development and evaluation of projects.
