Aims of this meeting:

  • Showcase and discuss the development of both rural and metropolitan Access to Allied Health Services Projects
  • Provide an update on the PEP Research Project
  • Learn from the experience of mental health professionals participating in the ATAPS projects in different capacities
  • Inform divisions of the work of the Centre for Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) and
  • Provide an opportunity to discuss the use of the ATAPs evaluation reports and communication with divisions



Divisions Allied Psychological Services Projects

This session provided an opportunity for division staff to present their projects and to discuss specific issues in implementation that are relevant to the ATAPS network as a whole.

Dr Grant Blashki, Senior Research Fellow, Department of General Practice, Monash University
"The PEP study CBT training for GPs is running again in 2006, with training over two weekends in either April or July 2006. The training is approved by the GPMHSC as a Level 2 Mental Health Skills Training program and is to be held at Southcity Division of General Practice at the Alfred Hospital. The PEP study is funded by the beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence in Depression and Related Disorders and places for 2006 are limited. Mental Health Professionals' Experience of the ATAPS Projects
A panel of psychologists will present on their experience of the ATAPS projects, specifically what they have learnt working with divisions and GPs and views on BOIMH. There will be an opportunity for extended discussion.

ATAPS Evaluation Communication Strategy
Lucio Nacarella, Research Fellow, Program Evaluation Unit, University of Melbourne, discused with divisions how they are using the current ATAPs evaluation reports and data, and how communication of the evaluation findings could be strengthened in future.
