Clinical IT in Aged Care - Interim Report July 2003
The Clinical IT in Aged Care project (the project) is a three-year project funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing (the Department) that commenced in June 2002.  It forms part of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Strategic Plan for the Aged Care Sector. The project aims to identify and test clinical IT systems to investigate how they can support and improve the consistency of care standards and the effective delivery of quality care resulting in better health outcomes for residents in aged care homes.

Remote access technology-linking general practice, residential aged care, pharmacy and a regional hospital for the management of medications. What are the possibilities and barriers to uptake? An example from the QUM Coast
Dr Mark Miller is a rural GP from Goolwa SA who has an interest in GP education and IT. The area has been funded to conduct a QUM project (called the QUM Coast Project) with funding from the Department of Human Services (DHS) SA since December 2000. The presentation includes an overview of the IT interventions which aimed to improve the link between general practice and residential aged care particularly relating to medication management and patient records.
