Report of the Chronic Disease Management Workshop, 'One Year On' held in Canberra, 20-21 March 2003. 

The report summarises the themes of the workshop and also provides records of issues resolved and discussion of those to be worked on.

Of major concern at the workshop was the reducing structure of Divisons' CDM funding.  Since the workshop, the Minister has agreed to increase Divisions' CDM funding for 2003-04 to $7m.

A key theme was also the need for better communication. The Department announced the intention to convene a business management advisory group which is now finalising its membership) and all parties gave undertakings to try to improve communications generally.  Regular SBO meetings are occurring and an email group has been set up for those with an interest in practice capacity.

The Department has been working on the CDM schedule to the Divisions OBF agreements and on dovetailing reporting requirements for 2003-04 with OBF reporting.  Progress is also underway on the establishment of a data working group and further work in the area of practice capacity for CDM.
