Tailoring Individualised Statistical Reports

Information about the number of MBS services provided to residents in aged care homes can be individually tailored by division of general practice from the HIC health statistical website.

This information is relatively current and reports on the number of services provided for specific items can be produced by month, quarter, or financial year.

The MBS flow chart can be a useful guide in identifying items of interest.

Example 1:

Create a report for your division on the uptake of standard consultation items for 02/03 and 03/04.

Step 1 - go to the HIC health statistics website using this link: http://www.hic.gov.au/statistics/imd/forms/gpStatistics.shtml

Step 2 - Select your division

Step 3 - Report Selection, select Medicare information

Step 4 - Format Report, select by time period (rows)

Step 5 - Time Period, select by financial year

Step 6 - Start date, select July 2002/ End date, select June 2004

Step 7 - Click create report

Step 8 - MBS Category, select Professional attendances

Step 9 - Group, select A1, General Practitioner Sub Group, GP Attendances

Step 10 - Select items that you are interested in (Standard consultation items 20, 35, 43, 51)

Example 2:

Create a report for your division on the uptake of EPC care plan item 730 02/03 and 03/04.

Follow instructions for example 1 steps 1-8

Step 9 - Group, select A15, Multidisciplinary Care Plans & Case Conferences Sub Group, 1 Multidisciplinary Care Plans

Step 10 - Select Item 730, GP contribution to care plan
