3 Centres Consensus Guidelines on Antenatal Care Review Advisory Group

This group is meeting to review the guidelines on antenatal car developed by the Monash, Mercy and Royal Women’s hospital in 2002.  The aim is to strengthen the evidence base for the guidelines and gain a broad based consensus for the guidelines for antenatal care both within the hospitals and in the wider medical community.  The GPDV representative will be required to monitor the usability of the guidelines for general and rural practice.

At this meeting the process to be followed in formulating the guidelines was outlined.  The use of internationally recognised best practise (Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network) in guideline development was explained
There guidelines will be available for use across the state in hospitals and private clinics, it is seen as a way of delivering the latest evidence based knowledge about antenatal interventions which have a positive impact on outcomes in antenatal care.
Meetings scheduled are monthly from May to September.
