Working with Divisions of General Practice - 2002

Everything you ever wanted to know about divisions but were afraid to ask

This 3 hour workshop is for anyone with an interest in developing effective GP engagement strategies. It provides an in-depth orientation to the policy and program context in which the Divisions of General Practice operate. The key objectives are:

  1. To provide a general introduction to the purpose of Divisions, their relationships with government and with General Practice and their future development
  2. To enable participants to develop a basic understanding of the opportunities for GP Engagement in primary care reform, through the Divisions Program

This workshop has been well received by a number of PCP groups in 2002:

  • Booroondara
  • Central West Gippsland
  • Lower Hume
  • Melbourne-Moonee Valley
  • Northern Mallee
  • Southern Mallee

It has also been provided for DHS staff involved in the PCP Strategy:

  • Central Office staff
  • Regional PCP contact officers
  • Primary and community care staff at Western Metro Regional Office.

Participant feedback indicates that the workshop provides essential knowledge, as well as practical tips, to support joint action at the local level.
