Primary Care Partnerships

The current Victorian state government initiative for primary care reform is the Primary Care Partnership (PCP) Strategy. Divisions of General Practice are members of their local PCP(s) and provide local leadership on engaging GPs in the reform process. Division staff and, in many cases, GP reps, participate in committees and working groups to help ensure that new processes and projects are workable for general practice.

GPDV is funded by DHS to strengthen division involvement in their local PCP(s). The key work undertaken by GPDV includes:

  • Statewide workshop series on GP Service Coordination
  • 'Working with Divisions' workshops - for PCPs and agencies wishing to develop effective GP engagement strategies and improved communication and working relationships with GPs
  • Providing feedback to DHS on issues in GP engagement
