Medication Management and Aged Care - 25 Febrary 2005

Purpose:

Improving medication management systems in aged care has been identified as a priority area for development for the GP Panels Initiative. The introduction of the RMMR poses new challenges for GPs, aged care homes & Pharmacists. The aim of this workshop is to explore successful strategies for improving medication management systems in aged care homes and to facilitate increased knowledge and collaboration amongst program staff to plan for proposed changes with medication reviews in aged care.


Objectives:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of key elements of the regulatory framework impacting on medication management systems in aged care
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the key components of the current systems for medication reviews
3. Explain the impact RMMR seeks to achieve and identify strategies the division can employ to aid successful adoption of RMMR
4. Be able to list possible IM or IT strategies for improving medication management systems in aged care homes
